JAL Honolulu Marathon Announces Partnership with Precision Fuel & Hydration as Official Sports Nutrition Partner
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Global leader in personalized sports fueling to provide on-course nutrition, athlete education, and medical-team support across all Honolulu Marathon events
HONOLULU, HI — The JAL Honolulu Marathon today announced a new partnership with Precision Fuel & Hydration (PF&H), the world’s leading provider of personalized sports nutrition and hydration solutions. Under the agreement, PF&H becomes the Official Sports Nutrition Partner of all Honolulu Marathon events, bringing its science-backed fueling products, athlete education, and medical expertise to tens of thousands of runners at the December 13, 2026 race weekend and beyond.
The partnership marks a significant step forward in how the Honolulu Marathon supports athlete performance and safety, particularly given Hawaii’s warm, humid race-day conditions, which place unique demands on runners’ fueling and hydration strategies.
On-Course Fueling, Powered by Precision
Starting with the 2026 race, PF&H gels, chews, and electrolyte drinks will be available on course and at the finish line of the JAL Honolulu Marathon. Participants will have access to PF 30 Gels and PF 30 Chews, along with their PH 1000 electrolytes, giving runners a consistent, high-quality fuel source from start to finish.
“Fueling and hydration are no longer an afterthought for endurance athletes — they’re a core part of race preparation, especially in a climate like Hawaii’s,” said Dr Jim Barahal, President & CEO, Honolulu Marathon Association. “Precision Fuel & Hydration is the leading name in sports nutrition, and we’re proud to bring their expertise to our participants. This partnership will help every runner on our course perform better and have a safer, more enjoyable race-day experience.”
Why Fueling Strategy Matters in Hawaii’s Climate
Heat and humidity significantly increase how much fluid and sodium athletes lose through sweat, raising the risk of dehydration, cramping, and heat-related illness over the course of a marathon. Hawaii’s warm, tropical race conditions make a well-rehearsed fueling and hydration plan especially important for JAL Honolulu Marathon participants, many of whom travel from cooler climates and are not acclimated to racing in heat and humidity.
“Getting your fueling and hydration right isn’t something you figure out on race morning — it’s something you practice and refine in training, well before you get to the start line,” said Andy Blow, Founder, Precision Fuel & Hydration. “Every athlete sweats differently, and that’s especially true in hot, humid conditions like Honolulu’s. Our goal with this partnership is to help every participant, from first-time marathoners to elite competitors, build a fueling plan that’s personalized to them, so they can run their best and safest race.”
Free Resources to Help Runners Train Smarter
As part of the partnership, PF&H is offering Honolulu Marathon participants a range of educational resources designed to help them develop and refine a personalized fueling strategy well ahead of race day, including:
Free video consultation. PF&H will offer one on one video consultations covering the fundamentals of race-day fueling and hydration, including how to calculate sweat and sodium losses, how to structure a fueling plan around long runs, and how to avoid common mistakes like under-fueling or over-hydrating.
A personalized Sweat Test. PF&H recommends runners take its signature Sweat Test, a quick, non-invasive assessment (roughly 45 minutes) that measures how much sodium an individual loses through sweat — genetically, this can range from as little as 200mg to as much as 2,000mg of sodium per liter of sweat. The results are used to build a personalized hydration strategy. Runners who can’t attend an in-person test can use PF&H’s online Fuel & Hydration Planner for a personalized starting recommendation.
A discount on PF&H products. Honolulu Marathon participants can save on
gels, chews, and electrolyte products using code HONOLULU26 at precisionhydration.com.
Race organizers strongly encourage runners to begin testing their fueling and hydration strategy during long training runs, rather than waiting until race day, so their bodies are accustomed to the products and the plan is dialed in well before the starting fireworks on December 13.
Supporting the Medical Team on Race Day
The partnership extends beyond the course itself. The Honolulu Marathon is also working with PF&H’s medical team to incorporate sports nutrition and hydration best practices into its race-day medical operations. As part of that collaboration, select PF&H electrolyte and hydration products will be added to medical aid stations along the course, giving medical staff another tool to help treat and support runners experiencing fueling- or hydration-related issues.
“Bringing PF&H’s medical expertise into our aid station planning is a natural extension of this partnership,” said JJ Johnson, Race Director, Honolulu Marathon Association. “Our top priority on race day is the health and safety of every participant, and having a partner who specializes in sports nutrition and hydration science strengthens that effort significantly.”
