Double your bling at the Kalakaua Merrie Mile in Waikiki!

The Kalakaua Merrie Mile is a fun one-mile race in Waikiki followed by a beach party. Great as a warm-up for the marathon as well as visiting friends and family. Children of all ages are welcome to run the Merrie Mile.

Starts are in waves based on predicted finish time.

The race is named after King Kalakaua, who was known as the Merrie Monarch. The one-mile course starts at the Kapiolani Park end of Kalakaua Avenue and the turn around is by Kaiulani Ave.

The entry fee is the same for all participants. All children must have a registered parent or guardian in the event with them. The parent/guardian must accompany the child at all times.  Shirts and medals will be for paid registrations.

Strollers are welcome to start at the back-of-the pack keeping in mind that safety is first and foremost for all participants.

Once you have finished your race, wait around to watch the elite wave run their mile. Many competitors from last years Merrie Mile featured in this years Olympics, including bronze medalist Yared Nuguse!

Bib pick up

All registered milers must collect their race packets, which includes the race bib, from the Honolulu Marathon Expo by 6:55 PM on Friday, December 6.

 

Start:
Participants are asked to meet at the start area on Monsarrat Avenue from 6:00 AM, Saturday, December 7.
Listen for your wave being called to the start and proceed through the starting chute.

 

Course:
The course is out and back, starting on Monsarrat Avenue. The course heads west into Waikiki with the turnaround at 2424 Kalakaua Avenue. The finish line is at Queens Beach, the intersection of Monsarrat and Kalakaua.

 

Festival Area:
After your finish, you will be directed to the beach festival area to get your medal and post-race food and drinks.
