New for 2016 – The Kalakaua Merrie Mile
Date: 7am, Saturday December 10, 2016 – The day before the Honolulu Marathon
Location: Kalakaua Avenue, Waikiki, Honolulu
The Kalakaua Merrie Mile is an epic one mile run on Kalakaua Avenue. This is going to be a fun event with a Waikiki beach party after the run.
Named after King Kalakaua who was also called the Merrie Monarch!
We will designate waves based on your predicted finish time, so you can go as fast or as slow as you want!

Bib pick up
All registered milers must collect their race packets, which includes the race bib, from the Honolulu Marathon Expo by 6:55PM on Friday December 9.
Expo Hours and Location
Entries will be accepted at the Honolulu Marathon Expo until the race limit has been reached.
Course & Start Instructions:
Participants are asked to meet by the start area by the Honolulu Zoo from 6:00AM on Saturday December 10.
Listen out for your wave being called to the start and proceed through the starting chute on Monsarrat by the Honolulu Zoo.
The course is out and back, starting on Monsarrat Avenue in front of the Honolulu Zoo. The course heads west into Waikiki withe the turnaround at 2424 Kalakaua Avenue. The finish line is at Queen’s Beach, intersection of Monsarrat and Kalakaua.
After your finish, you will be directed to the beach festival area. We’ll show the race on the big screen and you can rehydrate, have some post-race snacks and show off your medal to your friends and family!
