General Information about the Honolulu Marathon
The Honolulu Marathon is one of the premier marathons in the world.
It is a world class event and the third largest marathon in the US after the New York and Chicago marathons.
Unique location, unique Aloha Spirit
The Honolulu Marathon does not have any qualifying times. Anyone can enter, walkers as well as the fastest runners. Our defending champion, Wilson Kipsang, is the fastest man to ever to run a marathon. He holds the current world record of 2h 03min 23secs!
We keep the course open and the timing mats out until the very last person has crossed the line.
We have the highest female representation of any major marathon; 48% of all participants are women.
Because we like to enjoy and get the most out of the day, we start the marathon nice and early. The starting gun and fireworks go off at 5am. This also makes the race a lot cooler.
